It was the biggest bike race of the entire year, the Tour de France. People from all around the world congregated along the streets, watching these athletes demonstrate their extreme athletic abilities. Lance, who had previously won the Tour, was falling behind, looking quite sluggish. He needed hydration and more to eat, but he knew that if he stopped now his time would not qualify him to continue. So, he continued to press on, as strenuous and difficult as it was. His legs were cramped and his muscles exhausted, but he knew he had to persevere. Although he could not see them, he knew his wife and children were somewhere along those seemingly never-ending streets cheering for him. As he rounded that last corner of the race, he could see thousands of people screaming and cheering for him. Although this year he did not prevail as the victor, he finished, and to him that is all that mattered.
